May 2019 City Connect

Impact100 Metro Denver members gathered downtown at Sherman & Howard to kickoff our first City Connect event. City Connect is a program Impact100 Metro Denver designed to bring together our members who work and live in Denver proper. This early morning event helps connect women who cannot make it to after-work events due to scheduling conflicts, and the ever-present traffic in Denver.

Our first event was attended by members, new members, and women considering membership in Impact100. We enjoyed coffee and light breakfast as Kim Desmond, Director of the Denver Office of Equity and Social Innovation, talked about historically marginalized communities in Denver, and about the importance of identifying root causes versus symptoms when making a donation. She stressed the importance of providing support to both symptoms and root causes.

Kim recognized that partnerships between nonprofit organizations, businesses, local government, and philanthropy groups are the best way to address community needs and work towards a solution together. She enlightened our members, and inspired our future giving goals.
